Restylane

The hyaluronic acid in Restylane injections and Perlane injections last longer than the body’s natural hyaluronic acid. Restylane maintains its shape using the body’s own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is hydrophilic or “water-loving.” The hydrophilic nature of these hyaluronic acid molecules and their three-dimensional structure allow them to bind many times their own weight in water.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is an injectable filler made of a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid specifically designed to imitate your body’s own hyaluronic acid. The gel is tissue-friendly and is long-lasting but not permanent.

What are the benefits of Restylane?

Restylane provides an easy way to stay in control of your looks with natural-looking results that do not affect facial expressions. The results of just one treatment can be seen immediately and can last up to one year.

What areas can be treated with Restylane?

Restylane can be used for laugh lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth, marionette lines from the corners of the mouth to the jawline, lips, lipstick lines or the area just below the nose and above the upper lip, and the corners of the mouth. It is also a great treatment for the tear trough deformity.

How does Restylane work?

Restylane works by replenishing the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid which adds volume to the skin, diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

What are the risks associated with Restylane?

Product-related reactions are rare. There are some injection-related reactions that can occur after any injection to the skin, but they typically resolve spontaneously a few days after injection. These reactions can include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site. After lip enhancement, lips may be swollen for up to a week. As with all injection procedures, there is a small risk for infection.

What is the recovery time for a Restylane treatment?

Recovery time ranges between two to three days and depends on other factors such as age.

Can I get a Restylane while pregnant?

Restylane treatments should not be used by people who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How long does Restylane last?

Restylane is long lasting but not permanent and duration depends on factors such as the individual’s skin type, lifestyle and age. Follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6-12 months depending on the individual and treatments. A lip treatment lasts about 6 to 12 months.

Can Restylane be reversed?

Restylane is malleable shortly after infection so in cases where a lump may appear, it can be massaged away. It is also possible to melt the Restylane injection away.

Restylane and is an  FDA-approved for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth, called nasolabial folds. Restylane is also an excellent lip enhancement filler.

Restylane and Perlane have well-defined safety profiles. Restylane has been used in over 1.4 million treatments in the U.S. and is available in more than 70 countries. It is the most studied cosmetic dermal filler in the world with dozens of publications in the medical literature. The recent addition of Lidocaine powder has made the treatments a lot more tolerable.

Restylane is the only filler currently approved by the FDA for lip augmentation.
